2 qts, no kidding. But there is any easier way. I block my tires and use a couple straps (from handlebars to grage door frame) to hold my bike upright when filling the oil. It's easy to make sure you don't overfill it that way, plus when the bike is upright you have more room underneath for a drain pan.
Strapping the bike upright is also really useful for other maintenance (checking triple tree, lifting back wheel to inspect drive belt, cleaning) just make sure it is blocked well, especially if you jack it up at all!
